Reviews
Within walking distance from Stony Brook University, this restaurant is the best choice to dine in if you desire for Chinese food . I like the steaming dumpling . Juicy and tasty . The beef and fish I ordered is decent too.
Nice restaurant. In terms of food taste and authenticity it's the best restaurant I have visited in Stony Brook area.
This is not your typical Chinese restaurant. They cook authentic Chinese food here. The dish I got was not greasy, but it needed a slight bit more flavor although I didn't want it spicy. The wonton soup was good. I will try a different bean curd dish next time. The Kimchi would have been more to my liking if it was fermented for a longer time. Overall, it was good.
Really authentic chinese spot. Their wonton soup might be the best I have ever had in the United States. I drive pretty far out of the way to pick it up. Everything else I have had there was excellent as well.
A small group of coworkers gathers at the Chinese tea restaurant that specializes in authentic Chinese cuisine. From the 495 freeway, it's still a long drive to Stonybrook.
There's enough space in the dining room for a small group and one large table for ten people. Parking is in the back, shared with two other restaurants.
At least eight dishes were ordered, including szechuan hot and spicy fish tofu, claypot fish, several cold dishes, and Yang Zhou fried rice. They're all good, just like you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant in downtown Flushing.
If you're craving Chinese food in Stonybrook. The green tea restaurant is definitely worth a try.
So, let me spill the tea on our recent dining escapade at this spot—it was a bit of a rollercoaster. Now, don't get me wrong, the food here is downright fantastic, but we hit a snag in the form of one of their hostesses.
Last time, we had this super-friendly hostess who made us feel right at home. Fast forward to this visit, and it's like we walked into a different universe. We tried asking about the menu, and it felt like we were talking to a brick wall. Recommendations? Nonexistent. It was like we were bothering her with our existence.
Then came the menu debacle. We asked to keep one, and she snatched them away like they were secret files. "Get them later if you need them," she said. Talk about feeling rushed and unappreciated.
The real head-scratcher? When the bill arrived, suddenly, our frosty hostess did a complete 180, flashing the friendliest smile in the room. It was almost comical how the vibe changed.
Here's the scoop—we decided to keep it real with our feedback and skipped the tip. The kitchen and the rest of the wait staff were great, but this hostess threw a bit of a curveball. It's like enjoying an epic movie, but someone's constantly kicking your seat—annoying as heck.
My advice to management? Sort out the attitude issue. The food's worth the visit, but feeling like you're crashing a party you weren't invited to? Not cool.
So, in a nutshell, incredible food, quirky service, and a tip that stayed in our pockets. Hoping the next visit is smoother sailing.
We had the fish fillet dried hot pot, Hongkong style stir fried flat noodles, fried chicken and garlic, and crystal shrimp dumplings. The waiting time was reasonable. When the food came out, it literally came straight out of the wok. It was made to order and the food taste fresh and hot! They were delicious. The staff were very friendly as well.
Very authentic Chinese dishes. Been here many times and never disappointed with any dish. The pig feet dish was definitely a hit!! Would go back again to have it.
